Our MissionThe mission of WeCare Developmental Facilitators (WCDF) is to improve the health and life opportunities of at-risk youth in our community and beyond.
WeCare Developmental Facilitators (WCDF) was incorporated in the State of California, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is suited to serve the San Gabriel Valley communities and beyond, making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth and their family in need.
However, in 2016, WeCare accepted a call from medical mission volunteers who visited a community in Umugaragu, Enyiogugu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State Nigeria, and was distressed by the challenges facing youth growing up in this community, realizing that support was needed to truly help overcome poverty long term, and that education is the key to success. A youth community center as well as child care center (pictures on our home page) were difficult to ignore. The organization has created Project Initiatives to offer assistance to rehabilitate the center. Through the generosity of our donors, and people of good will, we can help. The area has the poorest of the poor and underserved youth in the country. The neighborhoods have some of the highest rates of youth living in poverty. The majority of these less privileged youth are coming from households that have lost a parent or both. This leaves the widow struggling to provide food and take care of the family on her own. The need and isolation poverty creates, combined with the lack of youth programs, feeds into a cycle of poverty that is difficult to escape. Based on the above, WeCare and the village of Umugaragu looks forward to the assistance from people of good will for the repair, and is partnering with the local community.
We believe that the best way to address poverty is to expand education opportunities that enable all children to succeed in school, careers, and life.
To provide the skills development and activities necessary for disengaged youth that are not actively engaged in education, training, or workforce, so that they become productive adults.
